Hello, class! To help us better connect while working on our group research project, we are going to use our class blog.
Due date and time: 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2nd
Please post about your progress on the assignment so far. Please address as least three of the following topics:
1. What have you found that reinforced what you already knew?
2. What have you learned that you didn't know about your topic before?
3. What do you still want to learn?
4. What has been your most important source so far?
5. What problems have you encountered?
6. What questions do you have for your group members.
After you post, read all of your group members' blogs and then write a short reaction as a comment to one of their posts. Everyone is required to submit by 4:00 p.m. to get credit, so after 4:00 p.m. you can read what your group members had to say. You must post your reaction by 7:00 p.m.

Seamus Heaney
Happy St. Patrick's Day, class!
In order to celebrate this Irish holiday, we are going to read and comment on the poetry of one of my favorite poets: Seamus Heaney. Heaney is from Ireland and he often writes about his homeland.
Use this link to read "Digging" and post a 100 word reaction by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday the 19th.

Research Unit
We are beginning our new unit in class on February 26th. This unit will focus on research and inquiry strategies. Students often groan when they hear the word "research," but don't let your previous experiences fool you! This unit will include lots of groupwork and blogging, and our assignments are going way beyond the usual range of research papers! Get ready to experience a research project unlike any you've ever had.
Published Freewrite of the Month
This month your published freewrite is due Friday, March 27th. Remember to edit your work before posting. Also keep in mind that this will be seen and commented on by classmates. Pick a piece of work that you are proud of and want to share.
